Tottenham are reportedly weighing up options on potential Manager candidates should Ange Postecoglou fail to take the team past the Round of 16 in the Europa League vs AZ Alkmaar. Andoni Iraola, Bournemouth’s current manager is on Tottenham’s shortlist as a priority. If Ange Postecoglou was to leave, kickstarting a potential Iraola Spurs era.
Other candidates have also been sighted by Tottenham. Brentford Manager, Thomas Frank is also under Tottenham interest. However, he is not a front runner against Andoni Iraola.
Tottenham have had a shockingly poor season. Injuries have played a major factor in the shaping of results for them. Many believe that Ange Postecoglou has also been ‘Too Stubborn’ with his tactics this season, costing Tottenham in too many games. Ange Postecoglou has strongly stuck by his attacking philosophy, compared to Andoni Iraola. In some games where fans have questioned whether he should have changed more defensively. For example, Many thought the second leg of Tottenham’s Carabao Cup Semi-Final 1-0 advantage was the perfect time to have a defensive approach to a game. Andoni Iraola’s Spurs could become a golden Era
Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth team in the Premier League this season has been performing above many people’s expectations. Recording 44 points in 28 matches, 4 points away from Bournemouth’s all time points record of 48. Set by Andoni Iraola in the previous 2023/24 season. This was also after a slow start when they failed to win their opening 9 fixtures. Spurs’s Season could be over on Thursday 13th March
This Thursday’s fixture vs AZ Alkmaar could mark the end of Tottenham’s competitive season for 2024/25. With the Europa League being Tottenham’s final Cup competition to be involved in and a Spot for Europe next season in the Premier League looking very unlikely. It is not looking good for Tottenham. Many believe this could be Ange Postecoglou’s last game in charge of the club if Tottenham are to exit the competition this Thursday. Which is looking likely as they head into the tie 1-0 down. Tottenham could turn to Andoni Iraola early on. Although during recent manager sackings, Tottenham have used Interim Manager Ryan Mason to see them through. Which would allow Iraola to be able finish the season strongly with Bournemouth. Who would be very reluctant to let him go.
