Tottenham Hotspur Enter Race to sign Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace, Spurs Only sources have revealed. It is a high possibility that Crystal Palace will struggle to keep the Central Midfielder in the summer.
However, it is not just Tottenham who are keen on the the 21 year old. Aston Villa and Newcastle United have reportedly been in contact already with Wharton’s representatives which could mean a three-way tug-of-war when the window opens.
Ange Bolsters Squad
Ange Postecoglou has been keeping eyes on young talent to bring in to help Bolster the long-term future for Tottenham. Mathys Tel joining from Bayern Munich on an initial loan deal which includes a £45m buy-option in the summer and he is ready to tussle between Unai Emery and Eddie Howe for Wharton.
Kevin Danso will become a permanent addition to the squad at the end of the season, after making a temporary switch from Lens, having a £20.9m obligation to remain in North London.
SO Sources have been informed that after Tottenham Enter Race, Aston Villa and Newcastle have been boosted in their pursuit of Wharton – who shone as Crystal Palace bagged three points in midweek – as Manchester United have cooled their interest and are not on course to offer a route to Old Trafford.
Wharton’s Current Stance:
It is likely that Wharton’s current situation is positive at Crystal Palace, with reports suggesting that Adam Wharton is happy where he is and may take some persuading to leave the Eagles in the summer. He will have 4 years remaining on his £35,000 per-week contract. Although only being at Palace for 12 months after completing a £22million move from Blackburn, Oliver Glasner has him back at his disposal in the starting line-up after recovering from a groin problem.
It is not clear on whether Crystal Palace are ready to cash in on the 21 year old Central Midfielder. They were adamant that he was a major coup when they acquired his services. The admiration of three Premier League giants of Tottenham, Newcastle and Aston Villa could be enough to turn his head.
Tottenham may need to offload some players in this upcoming window to be able to make room for expensive talent, with Daniel Levy at the helm transfers can sometimes be hard to complete. After Tottenham’s £60m bid for Marc Guehi was rejected by the Eagles in the last window. According to Spurs Only sources, Yves Bissouma could be a Tottenham candidate to make way for Adam Wharton this summer.
