Archie Gray has picked up an award at the London Football awards today, winning Young Player of the Year. Archie was up against some strong competition for the award with a strong shortlist, consisting of Arsenal pair Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly, Watford’s Rocco Vata and Romaine Esse of Crystal Palace. He was also named Leeds club’s Young Player of the Year for the 2023/24 season.
Archie has been flourishing very well recently and has been a fine fitting addition to Ange Postecoglou’s injury riddled squad. Facing many challenges at a very early stage in his career, Archie seems to have settled well in Ange Postecoglou’s system and has received nothing but praise from the Tottenham Faithful.
Tottenham Struggles
Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham have faced many hard times this season, with having a full 11 squad of Senior players out injured, many of the Tottenham young and inexperienced Players have had to step up and be thrown into action with short notice, with Archie Gray being one of them.
Tottenham suffered massively because of Injuries this season, at one point in the season they went on without a league win for 7 games in a row, losing 6 of them. It was a run of form which was devastating, Exiting the FA Cup and Carabao Cup in the same week.
Archie has been a bright light in a dark tunnel for Tottenham. Without having many Senior Defenders left, Ange Postecoglou resorted to changing Archie’s position multiple times to attempt to help the team. From his usual Central Defensive Midfielder position to playing Left back, Central Defender and even Right back. He received a high amount of praise from Tottenham fans this season, reflecting just how hard the 19-year-old has been working and adapting to Ange’s playing style. Its a lot of pressure for a football player so young and he has tackled everything head first and taken it well. I personally think he will have a brilliant future ahead of him here at Tottenham.
A very well deserved award to pick up for Archie Gray.
